Our Story

Near the iconic sign that marks the true beginning of any Outer Banks vacation is a restaurant that defines the coastal casual lifestyle of the OBX that brings vacationers back year after year. Southern hospitality is a large portion of that coastal casual lifestyle, and here at Rundown, we take it very seriously. We believe that each guest deserves a great dining experience and, in order to achieve that, we must offer something for everyone. We feel that we have hit that mark at Rundown.

Before you even enter the building, you can experience an elaborate Koi Pond that brings joy to kids and adults alike. It's interactive, and guests are able to feed the Koi while immersing themselves in the tranquility of watching the colorful fish swim and frolic, eagerly watching the feet of those who pass by.

Once inside, take time to notice and appreciate the vivid and detailed artwork on the walls. The art represents the Outer Banks, as they are all created by local artists. Each of the artworks is available for purchase should you fall in love with a piece and wish to bring a part of the Outer Banks home with you.

The Tiki Deck is an idyllic place where the warm ocean breeze greets you the moment you step outside. You can see, smell, and hear the waves from the Atlantic Ocean while you make yourself comfortable. This is the place you go to let out a long sigh, sip your tropical drink, and relax.
